Heavy rain, hailstorm hit Balochistan’s Chaman, Pishin

Heavy rain and hailstorms have hit various areas in Balochistan, including Chaman, Pishin and Muslim Bagh yesterday.

Rain and hailstorms occurred in Chaman, Pishin, Muslim Bagh, and Ziarat, while lightning killed three people in Gulistan.

A large number of livestock were also killed due to lightning strikes in different areas. Mountain streams overflowed, while border areas were flooded.

Many communication roads and inter-district highways are closed due to rain and hailstorms, while transportation is severely affected.

Meanwhile, in the Phagal area of the Kaghan Valley, stones started sliding down the hills due to continuous rain, and residents of dozens of houses affected by landslides have shifted to safer places.

Rain fell in various cities of Punjab, including Multan, Bahawalpur, Vehari, Bhakkar and Jhang, while hailstorms also occurred in some places.

Thunderstorms and snowfall on Koh Safid turned the weather cold in North Waziristan, Parachinar, Bannu, Swat and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while light rain fell in different areas of Karachi.

PMD predicts rain from April 5

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PDM) have already issued a new weather forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms in different cities across Pakistan from April 5 to April 9.

According to the press release issued by PMD, a hailstorm is expected in Punjab and Islamabad.

Widespread rain, windstorms and thunderstorms (with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms) are expected in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Noorpur Thal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Pakpattan, Okara, Kasur and Sahiwal from April 6 (evening/night) to April 9.

Rain, windstorms and thunderstorms (with isolated hailstorms) are also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan and Khanewal on April 6 and 7.

Heavy rainfall is also expected in Islamabad, the Pothohar region, and the upper districts between April 7 and 8.

The press release further said that windstorms and thunderstorms, along with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms, are expected in Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Qambar Shahdadkot.

The weather forecast added that heavy rainfall and hailstorm is likely in Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Matiari, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal and Karachi on April 6.
