Ishaq Dar expresses concern over new Iranian strikes on Saudi Arabia’s energy facilities

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, said that the Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and the Foreign Office are continuously working for peace in the region, while speaking in the Senate about the current regional situation on Tuesday.

The Deputy PM said that when the attack on Iran took place, he was in Medina, and from there he immediately instructed that Pakistan should condemn the attack.

Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan was the first Islamic country to condemn the attack on Iran.

Iranian strikes on Saudi Arabia’s energy facilities

He added that shortly after the attack, contact was made with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Within three to four hours, attacks also began on neighbouring countries.

He said that in view of this sensitive situation, important consultations were held between Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan.

Both sides agreed to hold a meeting in Islamabad. He said the meeting was initially planned in Istanbul, but he had it moved to Islamabad.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Chinese Prime Minister invited him to China on March 31, where both countries agreed on five points.

He added that many countries also expressed support for Pakistan’s efforts.

Further, he said that the UN Secretary General also called him and appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.

He added that the United States (US) shared a list of fifteen points. While Iran responded with five points.

He said that a very dangerous development occurred yesterday when Israel attacked Iran, and in response, Iran attacked the Saudi region of Jubail.

He admitted that until last night, he was quite hopeful, but now the situation has become more complicated.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he does not want to go into further details.

He made it clear that Pakistan’s leadership is playing a full role in promoting peace and stability in the region, and diplomatic efforts are ongoing.
