Pakistan Navy conducts successful rescue mission

In a swift humanitarian operation, Pakistan Navy successfully rescued and evacuated 18 crew members, including nationals of China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia, following a distress call from Merchant Vessel MV GOLD AUTUMN, operating in the North Arabian Sea at 200 Nautical Miles (Approx 370 km) off Pakistan’s coast.

The rescued individuals, from the ship located about 200 nautical miles, approximately 370 kilometres south of the Pakistani coast, included nationals of China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia, according to the ISPR press release.

Upon receiving the emergency information, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency activated its Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre. Acting promptly and implementing appropriate measures, Pakistan Navy ship PNS Hunain, which was deployed to monitor maritime borders, was immediately dispatched for the rescue operation.

PNS Hunain demonstrated professionalism and operational capability throughout the mission. A Pakistan Navy team, in addition to assisting in extinguishing the fire aboard the merchant vessel and providing medical assistance to the injured, safely evacuated the crew and assessed the damage to the ship.

The rescued individuals were transferred to Karachi for further medical treatment and subsequent repatriation to their respective countries. These humanitarian operations conducted by the Pakistan Navy across Pakistan’s maritime boundaries reflect its commitment to providing timely and effective assistance and first aid in any emergency within its area of responsibility.
