Multan Sultans Deny All Charges, Call PCB Actions ‘Unjust and Narrow-Minded’

Web desk: The Multan Sultans have issued a statement in response to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) recent actions against franchise owner Ali Tareen, expressing disappointment over what they called the board’s “narrow-minded approach.”

According to the statement issued by Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen invested billions of rupees after taking charge of the franchise and personally suffered losses exceeding Rs7 billion.

The Multan Sultans further added in their statement that Ali Tareen has established cricket academies across the country, which have created new opportunities for young players.

Multan Sultans Deny All Charges

The statement added that “all of Ali Tareen’s statements were in the best interest of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).”

It further added that, “It is extremely regrettable that the PCB administration considers constructive criticism a crime.”

The franchise further stated that such behaviour “reflects the narrow-mindedness of the current PCB administration.”

According to Multan Sultans, the PCB had sent a legal notice last month demanding that Ali Tareen withdraw his critical speech and issue a public apology.

The notice also warned that failure to comply could lead to the cancellation of the franchise agreement, as per the statement.

The statement added that it was also said to disqualify Tareen for life from owning any cricket team.

PCB Suspend Multan Sultans’ PSL Contract

Previously, the PCB suspended the PSL franchise, Multan Sultans, after a formal termination notice was issued over an alleged breach of contract.

According to reports from private media outlets citing sources, the decision was made after Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen publicly criticised PCB policies, which allegedly prompted disciplinary action from the board.

Sources said the franchise has received a suspension notice and a termination warning for allegedly violating contractual terms.

The move reportedly follows concerns within the PCB over the franchise’s compliance with league regulations.
