New bus service launched in Sindh

The Government of Sindh has started a new People’s Bus Service between Shikarpur and Sukkur to provide affordable travel for people on Saturday.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon inaugurated the service. He said it is a public welfare project and asked passengers to take care of the buses.

He explained that the fare system is shared. The Sindh government will pay 50 per cent of the cost, and passengers will pay the other half.

Speaking at the event, Memon further talked about different steps taken under the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government, especially in transport, subsidies, and agriculture.

He said that due to rising fuel prices, financial support was given to motorcycle users. Farmers were also helped through subsidies on fertilisers and support for work.

The minister also added that development work is ongoing in many areas of Sindh, including Shikarpur.

He also mentioned programs like solar panel distribution and transport services for women.

Punjab announces new scholarships, transport support for students

The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, approved new steps to improve and standardise college education across the province on Saturday.

She chaired a meeting to review projects of the School Education Department and the Higher Education Department.

The Chief Minister ordered that all commerce colleges in Punjab be linked with public universities. In total, 36 colleges in 29 districts will be connected to 19 government universities.

Maryam Nawaz also approved the setup of modern IT labs in 166 public colleges.

She directed officials to give laptops to minority students on merit. She also approved scholarships for visually impaired and other special-needs students in the second phase.

Officials said that Google will offer free certification courses to over 100,000 students in Punjab.

The meeting also shared that 98 per cent of students were satisfied with the laptop scheme.
