SP Adeel Akbar's Death Appears to be 80% Accidental: Top Police Sources

Web desk: Islamabad Police sources have revealed that there is an 80 per cent chance that SP Adeel Akbar’s death was accidental.

According to sources, there are several reasons for reaching this conclusion.

SP Adeel Akbar’s Death: Accident or Suicide?

Sources said that a few minutes before his death, SP Adeel Akbar was going to meet someone related to his promotion, but that person was not present in the office.

Since SP Adeel was concerned about his promotion, the possibility of suicide can be ruled out.

High-level police sources further said that he was actively trying to obtain a Fulbright scholarship, his test was the next day, and he had sent his degree for verification.

According to sources, he was paying full attention to his career and personal development, which clearly indicates that suicide is not a possibility.

According to sources, his behaviour today was completely normal, and nothing unusual came to light.

A few minutes before his death, he also spoke to Assistant Commissioner (AC) Saddar in a completely normal manner.

According to sources, initial investigations also revealed that when the gunman gave SP Adeel the SMG, he took NSP (Normal Safety Precaution) to ensure that there was no bullet in the chamber.

As per the sources, a person intending to commit suicide does not usually take such safety precautions.

According to sources, SP Adeel took magazines and tried to fit them into the SMG, while holding the weapon straight in front of him.

According to sources, the angle of the bullet was 65 degrees, and it hit between the eyebrows.

Experts also say that it is very difficult to commit suicide with an SMG. Police sources said that, apparently, the incident appears to be an accidental firing; however, other possibilities can not be ruled out.

Therefore, the investigation has been kept completely open so that every aspect can be examined closely.
