A major milestone has been achieved by the Peshawar Zalmi’s Kusal Mendis in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11). Kusal Mendis has become the fastest player in the league’s history to reach 500 runs.

Kusal Mendis achieved this milestone while playing against Quetta Gladiators at the National Bank Stadium at Karachi. The team was able to win a massive victory of 118 runs.  

The landmark was reached by Sri Lankan batter in just 12 innings. He set a new benchmark in the competition. Mendis is now in the lead of players who played the fewest innings to score 500 runs.

The previous record was held buy Usman Khan, Luke Ronchi and Rassie van der Dussen. All of them reached this milestone in 13 innings.

The toss was won by Quetta Gladiators and they chose to field first. The decision quickly backfired as the Zalmi batters started dominating from the start.

A huge target of 255 runs on the loss of 3 wickets was set by Peshawar Zalmi. It is the third highest total in PSL history. The innings was powered by Babar Azam’s unbeaten 100 of 52 balls.

A key role was played by Mendis in the innings. He made a 135-run partnership with Babar Azam and scored 83 runs off 44 balls.

The bowlers of Quetta Gladiators Abrar Ahmed, Usman Tariq and Alzarri Joeseph were unable to contain the flow of runs.

Zalmi thrashed Quetta Gladiators in the final five overs even more making 76 runs in them. In the second innings Quetta Gladiators were bowled out for 137 runs in 18.1 overs.
