The Government of Punjab has started distributing financial assistance to eligible citizens under its Fuel Relief Programme, launched to ease the burden of rising inflation.
Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs2,000 has been transferred to the bank accounts of qualified individuals.
According to official sources, the payments have been made through the Bank of Punjab to those who applied under the prescribed procedure and whose applications were approved after proper verification.
The primary objective of the scheme is to support citizens who rely on motorcycles for daily commuting and are facing financial pressure due to rising fuel prices.
Officials stated that only individuals who have a registered personal motorcycle in their name were deemed eligible for the subsidy. Applicants’ details were also verified through data from NADRA and other relevant institutions to ensure transparency.
The government has also introduced a strict monitoring system to make sure the assistance reaches genuine beneficiaries.
Authorities further said that citizens do not need to visit any office to receive the funds they can simply check their respective bank accounts and withdraw the amount easily. Beneficiaries who have received the payment are also being notified via SMS so they can avail the facility on time.
