Ishaq Dar to visit New York from May 26 to 28

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar will visit New York from May 26 to 28, departing from Beijing.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar will participate in an open debate of the UN Security Council in New York on May 26, 2026.

The debate is being organised by the People’s Republic of China under its presidency of the UN Security Council for May 2026, and will be chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and China have signed and exchanged a number of agreements, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), protocols, and cooperation documents aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the signing ceremony held in Beijing.
The agreements are designed to enhance collaboration in areas including trade, investment, agriculture, science and technology, climate change, education, media, and people-to-people exchanges.


Among the documents signed were the Executive Program on Educational Cooperation and Exchanges, the Protocol on Inspection, Quarantine and Sanitary Requirements for Dried Fruits and Nuts, and the Protocol on Phytosanitary Requirements for Maize.
