Bahrain tightens rules on citizenship

The King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has ordered an immediate review of cases related to Bahraini citizenship, according to the reports on Wednesday.

The government of Bahrain has decided to take back the citizenship of people it sees as a threat to security.

According to the state-run Bahrain News Agency, the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, ordered a review of the citizenship of people who are seen as a risk to national security.

This step comes during rising tensions in the region and stronger security actions inside the country.

He said that strict legal action will be taken against people who commit treason or harm the country’s security and stability.

According to the reports, the King shared these instructions during a meeting with senior officials.

He further said that the current situation is very sensitive and requires full national responsibility. He warned that no carelessness will be accepted in the matter of protecting the country.

The King also said that Bahrain will continue to take strong steps to deal with recent attacks and the effects of tensions linked to Iran.

He added that Bahrain has handled recent challenges successfully. Further, he said this was possible because of the strong work of the country’s defence, security, and civil defence forces. And because of the unity of its people and the strategy of the government as well.

Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa has been given the task to carry out new measures in the next phase, the reports add. These steps will include programs to fix gaps in the defence and economic sectors.

The King also said that Bahrain supports peaceful solutions and diplomacy to solve regional and global issues.

Bahrain extends visit visas

Bahrain has eased some visa rules due to the current regional situation and the effect of the ongoing United States (US), Israel, and Iran situation on Gulf states, according to reports previously.

The attacks have led to the cancellation or suspension of several flights since February 28.
