Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has stated that there is no fuel shortage in the federal capital in a statement posted on social media platform, X.
The district administration is currently reviewing reports of petrol shortage at petrol pumps, petrol and diesel stocks are available in sufficient quantities at petrol pumps across the city.
Due to the suspension of heavy transport, a few petrol pumps have reportedly faced temporary disruptions, however, fuel supply to all such pumps is now being ensured through petrol tankers.
DC Islamabad has further urged citizens not to be concerned by fake reports.
According to official reports, assistant commissioners are keeping an eye on stock availability at pumps in their respective areas.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad is also continuously monitoring the supply and availability of petrol and diesel across the city through the district administration’s modern dashboard.
The development comes after Pakistan’s petroleum imports increased in March as demand for transport fuels remained firm, even as global and local prices stayed high.
Data released by brokerage firm Arif Habib Limited also showed that total imports of petroleum, oil and lubricants reached 1.34 million metric tonnes during March 2026.
Punjab govt launches Fuel Relief Programme
Earlier, the Government of Punjab began distributing financial assistance to eligible citizens under its Fuel Relief Programme, which was launched to ease the burden of rising inflation.
Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs2,000 has been transferred to the bank accounts of qualified individuals.
According to official sources, the payments were made through the Bank of Punjab to those who applied under the prescribed procedure and whose applications were approved after proper verification.
