Islamabad administration has announced a traffic advisory, with major restrictions to remain in place across the capital.
According to officials, the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone will be completely closed to all types of traffic. Additionally, the Islamabad Expressway from Koral to Zero Point will remain shut for commuters.
Traffic flow on the Srinagar Highway may also be halted intermittently at different times due to security and operational requirements. Authorities have further restricted the entry of all heavy vehicles into Islamabad from any direction or highway.
Transporters and heavy vehicle operators have been advised to avoid travelling towards the capital during these days to prevent inconvenience. Citizens are urged to plan their travel and follow official traffic updates.
Residents advised to follow alternative traffic plan
Residents of Islamabad are advised to follow the alternative traffic plan in case of road closures. Residents of G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 should use 9th Avenue via Margalla Road to reach Rawalpindi.
Traffic coming from Faisal Avenue towards Zero Point will be diverted to 9th Avenue. In case of closure between Koral Chowk and Zero Point, commuters may use 9th Avenue from Srinagar Highway via Stadium Road, Murree Road via Chandni Chowk, and Rawal Road to reach Koral.
If Club Road is closed from Park Road, traffic will be diverted towards Taramri Chowk. Citizens travelling from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi should use Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road.
Those travelling from Rawalpindi Saddar to Islamabad may use Karnal Sher Khan Road to Faizabad or 9th Avenue.
Heavy traffic from GT Road Peshawar to Lahore should use the Taxila to the Motorway, Chakri Interchange, and Chak Beli Road to Rawat on GT Road. Heavy traffic from GT Road Lahore to Peshawar should use Rawat to Chak Beli Road to Chakri Interchange, and then proceed via the Motorway to Taxila.
