Former Disney star exposes Hollywood's dark secrets

Former Disney star, Maitlin Ward, has revealed details about her Hollywood career as a young actress and exposed several ‘dark secrets’ in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Maitland Ward, known for her role in the 90s Disney television series “Boy Meets World,” discussed her challenging past of being shaped into a man-made “product” during her childhood.

She elaborates on how she broke free from societal expectations and made a name for herself as a film star.

Reflecting on her experience in “Boy Meets World,” Ward, who was 21 when she joined the cast in the later seasons, expressed that it is hard to revisit all the “provocative, strange situations” she faced.

During the interview, she shared, “I think it was such a factory kind of environment. Like you were just a product being sold, and you knew that yourself.”

“I mean, I didn’t think anything was wrong at the time with anything that was going on really. I mean it felt ill at ease in my own body and all my feelings and stuff, but I thought that was just me being stupid. I have to be professional. I have to be part of that Hollywood machine”, the actress added.

Maitlin expressed frustration over how female child stars, in particular, were treated and seen in a different light, “and it was all for this like twisted male gaze that Hollywood was just inflicting on everybody. They were telling us things, like this is what the audience wants, this is how they want you to be, this is how they want women to be.”

She further expressed that, due to the societal taboo around the discussion of any feelings of uncertainty during that period, she feels free to voice her concerns and engage with others who have experienced similar circumstances.
