Faisal Edhi has rejected allegations of mistreatment at an orphanage run by the Edhi Foundation, calling the claims baseless and misleading.
The controversy began after a video went viral on social media, raising concerns about the condition of children in an Edhi-run childcare home.
The video was shared by influencer Taha Akram, who claimed that orphans at the facility appeared unwell and were being mistreated. The footage quickly spread online and triggered public concern and debate about the foundation’s current standards.
The Edhi Foundation, founded by the late Abdul Sattar Edhi and Bilquis Edhi, is widely respected for its humanitarian work. It has long provided care for orphans and other vulnerable people across Pakistan and has received strong public support over the years.
Faisal Edhi dismisses claims
Responding to the allegations, Faisal Edhi dismissed them as propaganda aimed at damaging the reputation of the foundation. He said the organisation continues its social welfare work as before and remains committed to its mission.
Orphanage open for public viewing
To address public concerns, Faisal Edhi announced that the foundation will hold an open forum at the same orphanage mentioned in the video. He invited people to visit the facility, meet the children, and review the situation themselves to ensure transparency.
He also said he is ready to take legal action over the allegations. Faisal Edhi added that he made this decision after consulting his son, Saad Edhi and Zafar Abbas of the JDC Foundation. He said both have been authorised to proceed with legal steps if required.
