The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has officially announced a revised exam pattern for SSC-I Science subjects on Tuesday.
These subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science. This will be applicable from the 2027 examinations, according to the details.
According to the official notification, the total theory paper will now carry 60 marks. This has been reduced from the previous 75 marks.

New FBISE objective portion 2027: 30 marks
The objective section will consist of 60 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). These will carry a total of 30 marks.
Each MCQ will be worth 0.5 marks. Out of these MCQs, five sets of MCQs will be based on scenarios or stimulus-based questions. Each of the sets will contain four questions.
The board has further emphasised that the questions will be designed to assess conceptual understanding. In addition to this, a 30 per cent focus will be placed on knowledge-based cognitive skills, as per the Table of Specifications provided in the notification.

New FBISE subjective portion 2027: 30 marks
The subjective section will also carry 30 marks. It will include five questions, which will be each worth 6 marks.
These will comprise a combination of short and long questions. These questions will include a three split-type questions and two longer questions that may also have sub-parts.

Key instructions for students
FBISE has clarified that Practical Based Assessment (PBA) learning outcomes will not be included in the theory paper. Adding that it will be purely summative in nature.
The revised pattern is expected to encourage conceptual learning and better assessment of students’ understanding of science subjects.

Federal Board announces HSSC annual exam date sheet
The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has officially announced the date sheet for the HSSC Part I and II (1st Annual) Examinations 2026.
According to the board, the exams are set to commence on May 14, 2026. The morning session will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, while the evening session is scheduled from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
