Six tragic incidents of unprovoked firing and shelling by the Afghan Taliban took place in the Mamund and Salarzi areas of Bajaur District during March and April.
The Afghan Taliban targeted civilian populations from across the border. These unprovoked attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 9 innocent civilians, the injury of 12 others, and the destruction of eight residential homes.
According to a press release issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur District, the district administration and security forces took immediate and effective action and provided immediate relief to the affected families.
The injured were given emergency medical assistance, and after initial treatment, they were shifted to Peshawar for further treatment.
In addition, steps are being taken to restore the damaged houses, and compensation will be provided to the heirs of the martyrs and injured soon.
Reports say that regional elders and people of different schools of thought, including youth, protested vehemently on April 6, 2026 and demanded an immediate stop to such irresponsible actions by the Afghan forces to avoid further loss of life and property.
The statement further said that the district administration and security forces are continuously monitoring the situation after this incident.

Previously, the Afghan Taliban once again shelled Pakistani civilian areas near Angoor Adda in South Waziristan, escalating tensions along the border.
According to sources, a mortar shell fired from across the border struck the home of residents Karim Khan and Rahmatullah, causing injuries to multiple family members.
At least five people were wounded in the explosion, including four children and one woman. The injured children are reported to be aged 13, 10, 8, and 3. In response, the Pakistan Army engaged the firing positions with both light and heavy weapons, after which the attackers reportedly fled.
All the injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital in Wana for treatment. Local residents have expressed deep sorrow and anger over the incident.
