Pakistan embassy in Oman stops passport services temporarily

Passport services at Pakistani embassies around the world have been temporarily stopped because of a technical problem at the main office in Islamabad today. This has caused delays for Pakistanis living abroad.

In a statement on the social media platform Facebook, the Embassy of Pakistan in Muscat said that passport services in Oman will stay suspended until further notice.

People have been advised to check the embassy’s official social media pages for more updates.

The issue started due to a technical fault at the passport headquarters in Islamabad. This issue has affected all Pakistani embassies worldwide.

Officials have not said when services will restart, but they have expressed regret for the inconvenience.

New passport collection timings, fees

Separately, before this, the Embassy of Pakistan in Muscat announced new timings for passport collection.

The new schedule started on May 1, 2026. It is expected to make services smoother and reduce crowding.

The embassy says that processed passports will be available from Sunday to Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

To collect a passport, applicants must bring their original token and old passport.

The embassy has clarified that to receive a new passport, citizens must bring the original token and their old passport.

Further, the embassy has also released details of fees for different categories of passports.

  • 5-year passport (36 pages): 12 OMR (normal), 19 OMR (urgent)
  • 10-year passport (36 pages): from 17 OMR

The embassy has also warned that the people to keep their passports safe. If a passport is lost, extra fees will be applied. The fee will be doubled the first time and increased even more if it is lost again.

For example, if a passport is lost a second time, the fee for a 100-page urgent passport can reach up to 208 Omani Rials.

Citizens have also been advised to visit the embassy only during the given times to avoid problems.
