PM Shehbaz Set to Leave for Riyadh Today for FII9 Conference

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrives in Riyadh for FII9 investor summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif set to leave for Saudi Arabia today to attend the 9th Future Investment Initiative (FII9) in Riyadh, a flagship global investor summit running Oct. 27–30.

He is travelling at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and will be accompanied by a high level team including DPM Ishaq Dar and senior cabinet ministers, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

Hosted by the FII Institute, this year’s conference carries the theme “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth.” With sessions focused on innovation, sustainability, economic inclusion, and geopolitics.

Additionally, organisers say the event will convene thousands of global leaders, investors, and policymakers over four days in the Saudi capital.

During bilateral meetings, PM Shehbaz is expected to pitch trade, investment, energy, and human capital partnerships.

Furthermore, Islamabad frames the trip as part of a push for economic diplomacy and to accelerate Gulf investment into priority sectors back home.

FII9’s program includes invite only Day 0 conclaves (Oct. 27), two days of plenary dialogues (Oct. 28–29), and an Investment Day (Oct. 30) designed to catalyse deals between sovereign funds, asset managers, and high growth firms.

The agenda explicitly tackles what organisers call the “paradoxes” of progress, innovation, and fragmentation in the global economy.

The visit follows a period of heightened Pakistan Saudi engagement, with recent reporting on expanded economic and strategic cooperation.

Pakistan and KSA has already signed a landmark defence coopertion pact under ‘Strategic Mutual defence Agreement’.

Now expanding mutual cooperation beyond defence realms both countries are continuously engaging in boosting economic activities.

Moreover, Islamabad is seeking to convert headline announcements into bankable projects across energy, infrastructure, and technology.

With FII9 drawing top investors under a growth focused theme, Islamabad views the Riyadh forum as a timely platform to pitch stability, reforms, and returns.
