The Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has acknowledged the role of Pakistan in the US-Iran talks.
Reza Amiri, on May 3, said that Islamabad has continued to serve as a central mediator in Iran’s negotiations with the US.
“Pakistan remains a mediator, and no decision has been made to alter this,” the ambassador said in an interview with an Iranian news agency.
He also noted that the progress of the talks totally depends on how the US responds.
The Iranian news agencies Tasnim and Fars on Saturday reported that Iran has submitted a 14-point proposal to the mediator, Islamabad.
According to Tasnim, the proposal offers an end to the dispute over all platforms and designs a new framework for the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian ambassador also confirmed that Iran has sent a proposal towards the US.
He endorsed Pakistan’s efforts in the negotiations and called them ‘valuable’.
The Iranian ambassador said, “The international community was observing Tehran’s clear and logical stance.”

According to the media reports, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iran, Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh, has confirmed that the US has responded to the 14-point proposal sent to Washington via Pakistan.
Esmaeil Baghaei said in a statement that the 14-point plan put forward by Iran is focused entirely on ending the war and reducing tensions in the region.
Tehran is currently reviewing without a US response, but has not initiated any formal nuclear negotiations.
The Iranian ambassador added that Iran stands firm and will not compromise national interests or defence policy under any pressure.
He said the success of the negotiations depended entirely on the behaviour of the US, and if it was serious, progress could be possible.
According to Arab media, Iran’s peace plan consists of three phases.
The first phase includes proposals to end the blockade, opening the Strait of Hormuz, and removing marine landmine tunnels while aiming to end the war within 30 days.
The second phase involves bringing uranium enrichment to a limited level and guaranteeing the protection of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, as well as the phased restoration of frozen assets.
In the third and final stage, strategic negotiations with the state of the region and the establishment of a common security system for the entire Middle East were proposed to ensure sustainability.
Pakistan acted as a mediator in the US-Iran war and asked US President Donald Trump for an immediate ceasefire.
The US President accepted the offer of the Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.
On April 11-12, Pakistan conducted the first round of talks between the US and Iran, and the delegations from both countries accepted and visited Islamabad to talk.
The second phase of talks commenced recently in late April, and no decision could be finalised regarding the ceasefire.
