The case regarding the closure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder’s X account has been scheduled for hearing on Monday.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of the Islamabad High Court will hear the petition. The Adiala Jail authorities have already submitted their response, while the court has also directed other relevant parties to file their replies.

Senior advocate and PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja is likely to represent Imran Khan in the case related to the closure of his X account. The court had earlier allowed him to meet the PTI founder for consultation; however, despite the court’s order, the meeting did not take place.

Previous proceedings

In February, the Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing until the first week of May, seeking final arguments on the petition.

During the hearing, lawyers Zafarullah and Ali Bukhari appeared before the court. Ali Bukhari informed the court that Salman Akram Raja was unwell and therefore could not appear. The court also directed jail authorities to facilitate a meeting between Salman Akram Raja and Imran Khan.

Zafarullah stated that they were ready to present arguments and requested that copies of the response be provided to the other side, noting that neither Imran Khan nor PTI had submitted a formal reply yet. He further requested a meeting with Imran Khan in jail before filing their response.

The court then asked Ali Bukhari to confirm whether Salman Akram Raja intended to submit a response, noting that PTI is also a party in the case.

Ali Bukhari reiterated that he had requested a meeting with the PTI founder in jail to prepare the reply. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked that it would be determined whether PTI or its counsel intended to file a response in the case.
