UAE claims 3 missiles from Iran intercepted

The Defence Ministry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has said that four missiles were launched from Iran. According to reports, three of those were intercepted, and one fell into the sea.

The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority has sent out an alert that its air defence systems are responding to a missile threat, reports say on Monday.

It follows a similar alert about two hours ago, reports add. According ot it, this was the first of its kind since the US-Iran ceasefire came into effect.

Fire at Fujairah petroleum site

A large fire broke out at a petroleum industrial site in Fujairah after a drone attack from Iran, according to the UAE media reports.

Fujairah Civil Defence teams have been deployed to the scene and are trying to control the fire, media reports add.

‘Air defence systems currently responding to missile threat’

Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates on X stated, “The UAE’s air defences are currently engaging with missile and drone attacks originating from Iran, and the Ministry of Defence confirms that the sounds heard in various parts of the country are the result of the UAE air defence systems intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.

Earlier, an alert was issued in Dubai in view of the current situation and the risks of a possible missile attack.

Authorities warned in a message sent to mobile phones that citizens should immediately move to safe places and await further instructions in view of the possible missile threat.

Reports say that the authorities issued a second message shortly after, declaring the situation ‘safe’ and allowing citizens to resume normal life.

Later, citizens received a third emergency alert from the authorities, warning of the potential risks of missile and drone attacks, as per the reports.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the Emirati Defence Forces are currently actively combating these threats, and operations are underway to intercept suspicious targets in the air.

The ministry has confirmed that these are the reasons for the explosions and sounds heard in different parts of the country.

Authorities have instructed citizens to stay in safe places and avoid unnecessary movements until the threat is completely eliminated and the situation is declared safe.
