When can you enjoy the next public holiday?

Eidul Azha 2026 holidays

The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has shared the expected dates for Eidul Azha 2026, as many people on social media are showing interest in the upcoming holidays.

According to Secretary General Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the new moon of Zilhaj 1447 AH is likely to appear on the night between May 16 and 17. He said the moon is expected to be born at 1:01 am Pakistan Standard Time.

Khalid Ijaz Mufti explained that if the weather stays clear, people will be able to see the Zilhaj moon on the evening of May 17.

He added that the first day of Zilhaj is expected to fall on May 18 in Pakistan. Based on these calculations, Eidul Azha is likely to be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

There are chances of up to six consecutive holidays on Eidul Azha this year. If Eid falls on Wednesday, May 27, then the government may announce a holiday on May 26 for Arafat Day (Hajj day).

After Eid on May 27, holidays may continue on May 28 (Thursday) and May 29 (Friday). Since May 29 falls before the weekend, schools and offices usually remain closed on Saturday and Sunday as well.

This means people could enjoy a long break of up to six days, depending on the official holiday announcement. The extended holidays would give citizens more time to celebrate Eid with their families and travel to their hometowns.
