Residents of Islamabad saw fighter jets roaring across the skies on Friday as part of preparation for the “Marka-e-Haq” flypast.
The aerial drill involved increased movements of fighter aircraft as part of routine operational training and preparations for the event.
Officials advised citizens not to panic, saying the jet activity and aerial manoeuvres are part of planned exercises to celebrate Pakistan’s historic victory.
The flypast is being viewed as a demonstration of Pakistan Air Force operational capability and preparedness, particularly amid lingering regional tensions and memories of military standoff with India.
The military has vowed an even stronger response to enemy forces if they resort to any hostilities as Pakistan marked the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq.
On May 6-7 last year, India, after levelling baseless and unfounded allegations against Pakistan for an attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, launched an attack on Islamabad, which was responded to with full force, humilating New Delhi.
The more than 80-hour war eventually stopped on May 10 after intervention from the United States, which saw multiple Indian jets and drones being downed, and bolstering Pakistan’s image as a “net security stabiliser”.
First anniversary of Marka-e-Haq
Field Marshal Asim Munir congratulated the nation and the armed forces on the completion of the commemorative year of the Marka-e-Haq. He called it an important milestone.
He said it reflects national unity, resolve, and commitment to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty at all costs.
The forum stated that observing the Marka-e-Haq at the national level sends a clear message that Pakistan is united, strong, and fully prepared.
It also said the event reflects strong coordination between the people, government, and armed forces.
