Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s armed forces have established the country as an invincible power, stating that ‘Marka-e-Haq’ reflected the nation’s commitment to peace.

In his message issued on the completion of one year of the “Marka-e-Haq’ victory, he stated that Pakistan delivered a decisive response to the enemy’s unprovoked aggression, proving the strength and professionalism of the country’s armed forces. He added that the success of ‘Marka-e-Haq’ demonstrated the unity and resilience of the Pakistani nation.

He said the occasion was a day to bow before Allah Almighty in gratitude for His countless blessings and favours. Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan inflicted a crushing defeat on the enemy during a critical hour of trial. He paid tribute to the country’s martyrs, their families and the soldiers who stood like a steel wall in defence of the homeland.

The Prime Minister said the enemy had been taught a lesson that shattered its claims of invincibility. He paid tribute to the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for his courageous leadership, as well as Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

Shehbaz Sharif warned that any aggression against Pakistan or attempt to undermine the country would be met with a prompt, effective and comprehensive response.

He said Pakistan remained fully determined and alert in defending its borders and would continue efforts to eliminate “Fitna al-Kharij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan” and bring terrorism to its logical end.

The Prime Minister said the mention of Pakistan could not be complete without Kashmir, which he described as the unfinished agenda of the partition of the subcontinent. He stressed that lasting strategic stability in South Asia could not be achieved without resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

He reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for the Kashmiri people’s right to freedom and self-determination.
