New Pakistani airline set to launch domestic flights

New Pakistani airline

A new Pakistani airline has applied for a Regular Public Transport licence and is eyeing the launch of domestic flights.

The name of this new airline is reportedly Noor Airways.

According to reports, Noor Airways’ application for a Regular Public Transport license has been processed at the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. This means the airline is moving through the regulatory approval stage before launching services.

The airline seeks to start flight operations with a fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft on domestic routes.

It is pertinent to mention that Noor Airways has not yet announced its planned launch date, initial routes, ticket prices, or fleet size. However, the use of Airbus A320 aircraft suggests the airline may focus on major domestic routes such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta.

Before starting, the new Pakistani airline will need licensing, operational readiness, aircraft arrangements, safety approvals and route permissions.

The main private airlines operating in Pakistan are AirBlue, Air Sial, Fly Jinnah and Serene.

In late 2025, the government sold a majority stake in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for $482m in a publicly televised auction.

Arif Habib Limited (AHL), a Karachi-based securities brokerage, led the winning consortium, which includes AKD Group Holdings Limited, fertiliser manufacturer Fatima Fertiliser, private school network City Schools, and real estate firm Lake City Holdings Limited.
