AirSial flight PF-125, which was en route from Karachi to Islamabad, narrowly escaped a major incident after facing severe weather conditions during its journey, resulting in a diversion to Sialkot Airport instead of its final destination.
According to ARY news, the AirSial flight faced turbulent conditions for nearly thirty minutes, with passengers experiencing continuous shaking and intense turbulence as the aircraft moved through severe weather.
This situation reportedly incited panic within the cabin, especially among families and elderly passengers on board.
Upon the aircraft’s safe landing in Sialkot, tensions escalated when several passengers declined to continue their journey on the same AirSial flight, citing safety concerns because of the challenging incident.
However, according to the passengers, the private airline maintained that the flight would proceed despite the travelers’ objections.
The situation later intensified into protests within the aircraft after passengers claimed they were not allowed to disembark at Sialkot Airport.
Videos and accounts circulating on social media from the scene showed frustrated travelers in heated arguments with airline staff while demanding to be allowed to exit the plane.
To date, the airline has not provided a public statement regarding the incident or the complaints raised by passengers following the emergency diversion.
Several flights diverted to Sialkot Airport due to bad weather conditions
Several domestic and international flights were redirected to Sialkot International Airport due to adverse weather conditions in the federal capital, Islamabad.
The diverted flights included a Fly Jinnah flight from Quetta to Islamabad and a Pakistan International Airlines flight from Riyadh to Islamabad, an Airblue flight from Sharjah to Islamabad, and an AirSial flight from Karachi to Islamabad.
According to a spokesperson for Sialkot Airport, once the weather conditions improved, most incoming flights departed from Sialkot Airport to their original destinations.
The spokesperson further noted that no flight faced any difficulties during landing at Sialkot Airport.
