An Egyptian television presenter was injured after being attacked by a lion cub. This incident took place while the TV host was filming a television programme in Cairo. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of using wild animals during live or recorded television productions.

The host, Marwa Abdel Moneim, was recording an episode focused on handling predatory animals when the lion cub suddenly became aggressive. Witnesses said the animal lunged at her and bit her hand and shoulder on screen.

She was immediately taken to hospital for medical treatment. She was given precautionary care by the doctors her, including antibiotics and rabies vaccinations. This reduced the risk of infection or further health complications caused by the animal bite.

A few hours later, Abdel Moneim stated that she had been discharged from the hospital and was recovering at home. Although she remained in stable condition, the incident left her with physical injuries as well as emotional shock.

The event has restarted public discussion about whether wild animals should be used in television programmes and entertainment shows. It has been warned that even young wild animals can behave unpredictably and may pose serious risks to presenters, trainers, and production staff.

Authorities warn production teams to follow stricter safety measures or avoid direct physical interaction altogether in production.

Additionally, people in favour of strong regulations say such incidents show how quickly filming situations can become dangerous despite the fact that handlers are present.

Similarly, attacks involving lions and other wild animals have occurred in the past, including injuries to children, animal keepers, and media workers in different countries. These incidents continue to fuel concerns about animal control and safety in productions involving exotic animals.

Overall, the incident serves as a reminder that wild animals can remain unpredictable. Safety precautions are essential when working with them.
