Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, said while addressing today at Lahore College of Women University that “my mother wanted me to become a doctor, but I never wanted to be a doctor.”
CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz said while addressing the students that I did my FSC from Lahore College of Women University. After doing that, I went for the studies of medicine, CM Punjab added.
Maryam Nawaz also told students that after one year as a medical student, her mother allowed her to study whatever she wanted to. Maryam Nawaz also stated that after leaving medical studies, she did a Bachelor’s in English Literature.
When did Maryam Nawaz join politics?
Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz officially joined politics in 2012 and campaigned as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader for the general election of 2013. In 2013-2014, Maryam Nawaz was appointed the chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.
In 2017, she led the campaign for her mother in the by-election from the NA-120 constituency of Lahore.
In 2019, she was appointed as the vice president of PML-N, and after that, she became a senior vice president of the party in 2023.
Maryam Nawaz as CM Punjab
After the general election of 2024, Maryam Nawaz was elected as the Chief Minister of Punjab. After becoming the CM, she took several positive initiatives to provide relief to the people of Punjab.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Sunday that Pakistan’s armed forces strongly stopped any attempt to cross the country’s “red line.”
She spoke at a ceremony held at the Wagah Border to mark one year of Marka-e-Haq.
She said the world now recognises Pakistan’s strength and noted that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts helped prevent a wider global conflict.
