A Chinese company has announced the launch of a major industrial project in Pakistan, expected to create more than 20,000 jobs nationwide.
According to reports, a high-level delegation of Chinese investors met with Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan to discuss large-scale investment opportunities in Pakistan’s industrial sector, particularly in textiles and garments.
During the meeting, the Chinese company formally unveiled the new industrial project, which is expected to generate annual exports worth between $400 million and $500 million.
Officials said the project could play a key role in boosting Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and strengthening the country’s manufacturing sector.
The development comes as Pakistan continues efforts to attract foreign investment and expand industrial cooperation with China.
Minister Jam Kamal Khan assured investors of the government’s full support, stating that efforts are underway to improve the ease of doing business in the country. He added that reforms in Special Economic Zones are underway to help reduce industrial costs. He said that Pakistan’s strategic geographical location and skilled workforce make it an ideal hub for global manufacturing.
The minister also directed the Chinese delegation to submit proposals regarding the import of specialised industrial raw materials to the Ministry of Commerce so that immediate action could be taken.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving the challenges faced by the industrial sector. The Chinese investors expressed confidence in Pakistan’s workforce and industrial potential, citing their positive business experiences in the country. The delegation stated that Pakistan is highly suitable for world-class manufacturing and that they are interested in expanding their investments further.
