Military awards ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President honours armed forces personnel

President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday honoured the armed forces personnel with honours during the Military awards ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The President will present awards to military officers and soldiers in recognition of their national services. Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Shaukat Shaheed was awarded the Sitara Basalat.

Air Marshal Kashif Qamar was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his outstanding performance.

The Sitara-e-Basalat award was conferred upon martyr Sepoy Sauban Majeed Baloch for sacrificing his life for the homeland.

Sepoy Israr Muhammad was awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat in recognition of his extraordinary bravery.

Air Marshal Amir Shehzad was also awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) for his exceptional services.

The event shows the official recognition of the sacrifices and excellence of personnel from the Pakistan Army, Air Force, and Navy. The awards were given in recognition of their outstanding service.

Sitara-e-Shujaat

Yesterday, President Zardari awarded the civil award “Sitara-e-Shujaat” to Liaquat Shaheed, who sacrificed his life after he confronted a suicide bomber.

The president approved the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a President’s House statement.

Liaquat, a resident of the Jand area in District Attock, embraced martyrdom after he intercepted a suspicious individual near the Khushal Garh Bridge.

Upon being confronted by Liaquat, the suicide bomber detonated his explosives, resulting in Liaquat’s martyrdom.

Renowned education expert Professor Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his services in the field of higher education yesterday.

He currently serves as the head of the Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee and also served as the Vice Chancellor of NED University for eight years.

The award was presented at the Governor’s House by Governor Sindh Nisar Khuhro in recognition of his contributions to higher education.

Separately, well-known agricultural expert Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri has been awarded a civil award for his services.

Dr Marri has served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sindh and Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam.

He has also worked in the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as a Member and Acting Executive Director.

He played an important role in improving higher education during the COVID-19 period. Especially in expanding online education. Under his leadership, several reform projects also received international recognition.
