Investigation Officer Fakhar Abbas informed the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Friday that the primary suspect in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf had confessed to the crime before a magistrate and assisted the police in recovering crucial evidence related to the case.
During the proceedings, the officer presented the details of the investigation through Prosecutor Naveed Hussain. He informed the court that the suspect, Umar Hayat, was arrested outside his home in Jaranwala, where police also seized a mobile phone from him.
The investigation officer further conveyed to the court that the suspect later led investigators to Islamabad and indicated the pistol that was allegedly used in the murder.
This weapon was recovered during the investigation. He also mentioned that the accused identified the location from which a rental car had been obtained, and investigators later traced the vehicle.
The court was informed that the suspect had already been recognised during an identification parade.
The investigation officer stated that, at the suspect’s own request, his confessional statement was recorded before a magistrate, in which he admitted to murdering Sana Yousaf.
Investigators also reported to the court that fingerprints obtained from the glass on the door of Sana Yousaf’s room matched those of Umar Hayat, as per a NADRA report.
The investigation officer added that WhatsApp conversations between the accused and the victim were also included in the investigation records.
