Mohammad Abbas, a Pakistani fast bowler, has completed a significant milestone. He has completed 100 test wickets away from during the second test against Bangladesh in Sylhet.
The landmark achievement was secured by the experienced pacer when the captain of Bangladesh Najmul Hossain Shanto edged behind on the opening day of the match.
This was the third wicket of Mohammad Abbas in that innings. He had already removed openers Tanzid Hasan and Mahmudul Hasan Joy.
Mohammad Abbas with the milestone became only the sixth pacer of Pakistan to take 100 wickets in away tests. He has now joined an elite list of Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Mohammad Amir, Imran Khan and Umar Gul.
This feat becomes even more impressive when his average is taken into account. The Pakistani fast bowlers who have taken more than 100 test wickets in away tests, Abbas has the best bowling average.
He concedes just 23.08 runs per wicket.
Overall, Mohammad Abbas now in 51 innings, has 109 test wickets. This underlines how heavily his red ball success has come outside of Pakistan.
He has taken 9 total wickets at home since he made his debut in 2017.
The 36-year old entered the second test in very strong form. He took six wickets in the series opener. Which included a five wicket haul in the first innings.
He made an immediate impact in Sylhet as well, dismissing Joy off just the second ball of the match when the opener was caught at second slip.
Abbas struck again in the 10th over to remove debutant Tanzid Hasan and later added Shanto to his tally to bring up the landmark.
