Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Abbas achieves historic test feat

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas achieved a remarkable milestone in Test cricket during the second Test against Bangladesh, completing 100 Test wickets in matches played outside Pakistan.

The experienced pacer reached the landmark after dismissing Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, further cementing his reputation as one of Pakistan’s most reliable red-ball bowlers overseas.

Abbas also removed openers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Tanzid Hasan, becoming the sixth Pakistani bowler to achieve this feat.

Mohammad Abbas has now joined the list of legendary Pakistani fast bowlers, including Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan, Mohammad Amir, and Umar Gul.

Among the six bowlers with more than 100 away Test wickets, Abbas holds the best bowling average at 23.02.

The 36-year-old pacer has taken 109 Test wickets in 51 innings, with only nine of those wickets coming in Pakistan since the start of his international red-ball career in 2017.

It is worth noting that Abbas claimed six wickets in the opening Test of the series against Bangladesh, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings. In the second Test, Abbas has so far taken three wickets for just 26 runs in 12 overs.

On the other hand, in the first innings of the second Test against Pakistan, the Bangladesh team was bowled out for 278 runs. According to details, the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh is being played in Sylhet. Pakistan captain Shan Masood won the toss and opted to field first.

Bangladesh opened their innings with Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Tanzid Hasan, but their start was poor as opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was dismissed by Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas on the second ball.

Liton Das was the standout batsman for Bangladesh, scoring 126 runs, while Tanzid Hasan made 26, Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 29, Mominul Haque contributed 22, and Mushfiqur Rahim added 23 runs.
