Punjab, Zhejiang sign sister province partnership agreement

The Punjab government has approved plans to establish formal sister province relations with Zhejiang in a move aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two regions.

According to reports, the initiative seeks to build institutional and friendly ties between Punjab and Zhejiang to promote stronger bilateral collaboration at the provincial level.

Officials said the proposed partnership will focus on expanding cooperation in major sectors such as trade, investment, technology, education, cultural exchange and industrial development.

The move is part of Punjab’s wider efforts to enhance international engagement and strengthen economic relations with global partners.

Authorities believe the sister province agreement will open new avenues for investment, development projects and cooperation in information technology and other strategic fields.

Officials further stated that the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to deepen regional-level ties between Pakistan and China through structured provincial partnerships.

Maryam Nawaz begins Baku engagements

Maryam Nawaz Sharif began her official engagements in Baku by visiting the mausoleum of Azerbaijan’s national leader, Heydar Aliyev. The Punjab chief minister laid a floral wreath at the mausoleum and offered prayers.

Later, Maryam Nawaz visited the Alley of Martyrs memorial, where she paid tribute to Azerbaijan’s national heroes and martyrs. She laid flowers at the memorial and honoured the sacrifices made by the Azerbaijani people.

Members of the accompanying delegation also paid tribute to the martyrs and appreciated their sacrifices for the nation.

In another development, Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz announced 720 residential flats for the labourers in Punjab. Maryam Nawaz said in her address at the distribution ceremony of the flat that “Apni Chat -Apna Ghar” is her favourite programme.

CM Punjab also said that the Punjab government will continue its struggle for the betterment of labourers in Punjab. Maryam Nawaz also confirmed that the Punjab government has already provided one lakh houses to the labourers and poor people in Punjab.

CM Punjab remarked that Brazil acknowledged “Suthra Punjab” as the best initiative by the Punjab government.
