Weather alert: NDMA predicts rain and hail in multiple areas

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast rain, wind and hail in several areas of Punjab from May 19 to 22. According to the advisory, rainfall is expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Sialkot, Kasur, Multan, and adjoining regions.

The NDMA also warned of rain accompanied by strong winds and hail in parts of Balochistan during the same period. Rain is expected in affected areas of Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman, and Khuzdar, while overall heat intensity is likely to increase in other districts of Balochistan. The weather in Sindh is expected to remain hot and dry, with temperatures continuing to rise.

Rain, wind, and hail have also been forecast in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rain is expected in Chitral, Swat, Peshawar, Bannu, Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Landi Kotal.

Thunderstorms and hailstorms are expected in different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Rain is likely in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh, and Kotli.

In the next 12 to 24 hours, rain is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. Thunderstorms are also likely in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Nagar, Ghizer, Diamer, Astore, Ghanche, Shigar, Kharmang, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Rawalakot, Kotli, Mirpur, and Bhimber.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain has been forecast in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Malakand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan.

The NDMA has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during extreme weather conditions, whether heatwaves or heavy rain. People are also advised to stay away from vulnerable structures and electricity poles during strong winds and heavy rain, and residents of at-risk areas should follow instructions from local authorities and weather advisories.
