iPhone 17 Pro Max JV remains in demand despite SIM restrictions

iPhone 17 Pro Max price in Pakistan

The iPhone 17 Pro Max continues to draw strong interest in Pakistan’s smartphone market, even months after its global launch, with demand staying high despite its premium pricing and limited official availability in the country.

Apple does not operate an official store in Pakistan, yet the brand maintains a loyal customer base, particularly among users who prioritise camera quality, performance, and long-term software support.

The latest iPhone 17 Pro Max is widely viewed as one of the most powerful models in the series, featuring an upgraded processor, improved camera system, and higher benchmark performance compared to earlier versions.

However, affordability remains a major hurdle for most buyers. The device is among the most expensive imported smartphones available locally, and prices have shown little sign of easing even after several months in the market. The highest cost is seen in PTA-approved units, which are fully compliant for local network use.

At present, a brand new, box-packed 256GB PTA-approved iPhone 17 Pro Max is reportedly priced between Rs530,000 and Rs550,000 in Pakistan, placing it firmly in the ultra-premium category.

In contrast, many buyers are turning towards JV (sim-locked) models as a lower-cost alternative. The JV iPhone 17 Pro Max is currently available at around Rs315,000 for a new, boxed and non-active 256GB unit, with some sellers offering it as low as Rs305,000 depending on condition and availability.

Despite the lower price, JV devices come with a major limitation. These phones are typically sim-locked and cannot be used on local mobile networks without unlocking.

In most cases, they must first be officially unlocked by the original carrier, often requiring additional charges. After that, PTA approval is still required for full network access in Pakistan, which involves further taxes and compliance steps.

Even with these restrictions, JV iPhone models remain in demand due to their comparatively lower entry cost. For many consumers, they offer a more affordable way to access Apple’s latest flagship experience, even if it comes with practical limitations on connectivity.
