Momina Iqbal has publicly thanked Maryam Nawaz after authorities took serious action regarding her allegations of online harassment and threats linked to a sitting member of the Punjab Assembly.
The actress recently shared serious accusations on social media. She claimed to have been facing continuous harassment, abuse, and severe mental pressure.
According to Momina, despite repeatedly approaching police and cybercrime authorities, she initially did not receive adequate protection or support.
Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chaddar has been named in reports connected to the case. Media reports also stated that Momina also named the politician’s wife in the case and included her in the complaint she submitted to cybercrime officials. Reportedly investigators have summoned both individuals as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Moreover, the matter gained further attention after the actress alleged that some individuals associated with the Punjab chief minister’s office had attempted to discourage her from continuing with the case.
Further, Momina stated that both she and her family had been receiving threats and enduring what she described as psychological torture. She warned that if justice was not delivered, it would lead her to publicly reveal evidence and hold a press conference.
However, later on the actress expressed appreciation for the Punjab government’s response. She thanked Maryam Nawaz for immediately directing the relevant departments to handle the matter and for ensuring security for her and her family.
Additionally, Momina also praised the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for issuing notices to the accused individuals. She even urged the public not to accuse anyone until her official statement is formally recorded.
Furthermore, the actress revealed that several women had contacted her claiming they too had allegedly faced harassment by the same lawmaker and were set to appear as witnesses. She vowed to continue pursuing the case until justice is served.
However, Saqib Chaddar has not yet issued a detailed public response to the allegations.
