JUI-F calls nationwide protest tomorrow against rising inflation

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced a nationwide protest tomorrow, Friday, calling for a “Day of Protest” across Pakistan against rising inflation and growing unrest in the country.

According to the party, demonstrations will be held in all provincial capitals and district headquarters in response to escalating security concerns, a recent surge in terrorism, and worsening economic conditions.

The JUI-F leadership stated that the protest aims to highlight public grievances over inflation and instability, urging citizens to participate in large numbers. On the special appeal of JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the party has completed its protest preparations.

A central statement issued by the JUI spokesperson said that large-scale protest demonstrations will be held tomorrow, Friday, in all provincial capitals as well as district headquarters across the country.

The spokesperson has appealed to the public, especially those affected by inflation, to participate actively in these protests to demand their rights.

Expressing deep concern over the country’s current economic and security situation, the JUI spokesperson said that the worsening law and order situation, unrest, and rampant inflation have made life extremely difficult for ordinary people.

He added that the poor are being pushed to the brink of starvation and economic hardship, with some reportedly driven to despair, while the government appears unable to provide adequate protection and relief to the public.

On the other hand, amid growing speculation about the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has urged President Asif Ali Zardari to defend the 18th Amendment, calling on him to show the same commitment he demonstrated in 2010 when the amendment was introduced during his tenure in office.

Speaking to journalists after addressing a “Meet the Press” event organised by the Karachi Press Club, the JUI-F chief said the government has not yet taken a clear stance on the proposed 28th Amendment, leaving the situation uncertain.
