The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave alert. It has been warned that temperatures in most districts of Punjab may remain 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.
Punjab weather today
According to the PDMA, a severe heatwave is expected across Punjab from May 25 to May 31.
Temperatures in upper Punjab are likely to remain between 42°C and 45°C, while cities including Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad may also see a rise in temperature. In southern Punjab, temperatures could reach between 47°C and 50°C.
Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed has directed the commissioners and the deputy commissioners to remain alert.
He also said that the administration should stay prepared in line with the instructions of the Punjab chief minister.
Because of the extreme weather, people have been advised to avoid direct sunlight between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. It has also been advised to drink plenty of water to have proper liquid intake.
Weather on Eid ul Azha 2026
The weather in Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid during Eid ul Azha. But, there is currently no threat of a heatwave or cyclone activity.
According to the PMD, there is no storm system in the Arabian Sea. No western weather system is expected to affect the region. As a result, weather conditions are likely to remain normal mostly.
During Eid holidays, temperatures are expected to stay between 24°C and 36°C. However, due to high humidity levels, the weather may feel hotter and more uncomfortable.
In addition to this, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to release salaries to government employees before Eid ul Azha.
According to reports, the provincial government has directed authorities to begin salary disbursement from May 20. The step has been taken in order to facilitate employees ahead of Eid celebrations.
