US carries out new strikes on Iranian military site

According to Reuters, the United States (US) has carried out new strikes on an Iranian military site today. Reports say that these sites were allegedly seen as a threat to US forces and commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that three explosions were heard near the eastern side of the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas at around 1:30 AM local time.

The report said that investigations were underway to identify the exact location and cause of the explosions.

According to Fars, air defence systems in Bandar Abbas were briefly activated after the incident.

US ‘not satisfied’ with Iran deal yet: Trump

The President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, has said that Iran had believed it could delay talks and pressure the United States by prolonging negotiations.

He said the situation has now changed and Iran understands that it has no option except a deal.

Speaking to reporters before a cabinet meeting at the White House, Trump said Iran’s leadership thought it could tire the US through long talks. He said this strategy is no longer working.

Trump said he is not fully satisfied with the current progress in talks with Iran. However, he said he believes the situation will improve soon.

Heavy gunfire was reported near Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas today, according to the reports.

Several explosions were heard in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas on Tuesday, according to the official Iranian news agency IRNA. Reports say that the cause of the blasts remains unclear.

The semi-official Mehr news agency reported that the situation was under control and stated that there was no reason for public concern, Al Jazeera reported.
