The much-anticipated three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Australia will begin today, May 30, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with both sides looking to make a strong start.
The second ODI will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on June 2, while the third and final match of the series is scheduled at the same venue on June 4. All three matches will begin at 4:30pm Pakistan Standard Time (PKT).
Pakistan will be led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, while Australia will be captained by Josh Inglis. The opening match in Rawalpindi will also mark a major milestone for Pakistan cricket, as it will be the country’s 1,000th ODI appearance.
Since playing their first ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch in 1973, Pakistan have featured in 999 matches, registering 527 victories and 442 defeats. Nine matches ended in ties, while 21 produced no result.
Historically, Australia hold the upper hand in ODI encounters between the two teams. Out of 111 matches played, Australia have won 71, while Pakistan have secured 36 victories. Three games ended without a result and one match was tied.
Despite Australia’s overall dominance, Pakistan have won the last two bilateral ODI series between the sides by a 2-1 margin. Pakistan claimed a 2-1 home series victory in 2022, before repeating the feat during their tour of Australia in November 2024.
