The federal government is expected to announce significant relief measures for salaried individuals in the upcoming Budget 2026-27, which is scheduled to be presented on June 5.

Ahead of the budget presentation, sessions of both the National Assembly and Senate have been summoned after approval from President Asif Ali Zardari. The Pakistan Economic Survey is set to be released on June 4, while a federal cabinet meeting will also take place on June 5 before the budget is unveiled.

According to sources, the government is considering a proposal to increase salaries of public sector employees by around 10 percent in the new budget.

In addition to the proposed pay raise, several relief measures for salaried individuals and pensioners are under review. One of the proposals includes merging one of the four ad-hoc allowances into the basic salary structure.

Sources further revealed that the government is considering tax relief for middle-income earners, particularly those with monthly incomes ranging from Rs100,000 to Rs200,000. A reduction in income tax rates is also expected for salaried individuals earning between Rs1.2 million and Rs2.2 million annually.

The proposed measures are aimed at easing the financial burden on employees and pensioners amid rising living costs, though final decisions will be announced in the federal budget next month.
