Former Australia batsman David Warner has applauded Pakistan young all-rounder Arafat Minhas following his record-breaking ODI debut with Pakistan against Australia at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the first ODI of the series.
In his Instagram story, Warner complimented Minhas for his outstanding performance by sharing a picture of the young cricketer and congratulating him on his record breaking performance.
Warner congratulated the left-arm spinner on his “remarkable display” against the Australian side, writing: “Well done legend”.
Minhas had a perfect start to his ODI career with a match-winning performance which helped Pakistan’s cause.
The left arm spinner completed 10 overs and took 5 wickets for 32 runs with his accuracy, control and composure at the bowler, and constantly disrupted the Australian batting order.
His brilliant bowling effort helped the Pakistanis to eliminate Australia for just 200 runs in 42.3 overs and earned him a spot in the history of Pakistan cricket.
Minhas became the first Pakistani bowler to pick up five wickets on his ODI debut.
He also made the best bowling record by any Pakistan bowler in his first ODI.
Pakistan comfortably achieved the target in their match with 204/5 to secure a 1-0 advantage in the three-match series.
Former captain Babar Azam anchored the innings with a composed 69 off 94 deliveries, hitting four boundaries and one six.
Ghazi Ghori, meanwhile, scored an impressive 65 off 92 runs, eight of which were fours, to take the hosts to a win.
The first match will be followed by both sides going to Lahore for the rest of the series.
The second and third ODI is to be played on June 2 and June 4, respectively, at Gaddafi Stadium.
