President Trump responds after reports claim Iran has suspended talks with US

Iran has suspended talks

United States (US) President Donald Trump has responded to the reports claiming that Iran has suspended talks with the US.

Talking to a news channel, he said that Iran has not officially informed the US about suspending talks.

“It is an appropriate thing to say, because they are better negotiators than they are fighters,” he said in a brief phone call. “But they have not informed us of that.”

According to Trump, the United States will keep the blockade, adding that “if they do not want to talk, that is okay with me. I think it is fine. I do not particularly want to talk either. We talk too much.”

According to reports, Iran on Monday suspended high-stakes negotiations with the United States to protest Israel’s expanding military offensive in Lebanon. However, no official statement has been made so far.

The report further stated that Iran has decided to close the Strait of Hormuz and has made a strategy to open other fronts, including the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Following these reports, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, also held a phone call with Araghchi, in which he “expressed serious concern over recent developments in the region, including ceasefire violations in Lebanon by Israel and the orders by the Israeli government regarding potential attack in parts of Beirut.”

Prior to this, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said, “A ceasefire between Iran and the United States constitutes, without any ambiguity, a comprehensive ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon. Any violation of this ceasefire on one front shall be considered a violation of it across all fronts. The United States and Israel bear responsibility for the consequences of any breach of the truce.”
