Govt announces new timings for Punjab, Islamabad cinemas

Cinemas to close early in Punjab, Islamabad

The government has announced that the cinemas in Punjab cities and the federal capital, Islamabad, will also be included in the energy-saving campaign, according to the reports on Tuesday.

According to the details, the last cinema show will now run from 8 PM to 10 PM. The rule will apply to all single-screen and multiplex cinemas in the city.

The government has included cinemas in the energy-saving campaign. Under the austerity drive in Punjab province and the federal capital, district administrations have issued orders for all cinemas to close by 8 PM.

Strict implementation of this policy is being carried out by the district administrations to deal with the energy crisis.

New market timings announced for Islamabad

According to a recent notification issued by the District Magistrate of Islamabad, new market timings have been announced. Shops, markets and shopping malls will now close at 8 PM from 1 June.

Restaurants, food outlets, grocery stores and bakeries will remain open until 10 PM.

The notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad also stated that marriage halls and marquees will close at 10 PM. These timings will also apply to private events.

Earlier, market timings in the federal capital were relaxed due to Eid ul Azha shopping to facilitate the public.

A partial change was made to the earlier notification in view of austerity measures.

Similarly, the Punjab government had also extended the 8 PM closing time until 1 June as a relief measure.

Karachi all set for luxury cinema houses

The cinema scene in Karachi is set to expand with the opening of three new single-screen cinemas, according to recent reports.

These projects are being developed in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). Two cinemas are almost complete. Additionally, the third is still under construction, according to the reports. The work is being done in partnership between DHA and NJE.

One of the major projects is the Innovesta Auditorium Theatre Cinema. It is designed as a modern facility for both film screenings and corporate events.

Another planned venue is a luxury “royal theatre.” It will have 24 recliner seats and an advanced Dolby Atmos sound system.

The new cinemas are also expected to support new filmmakers, actors, and distributors by providing a platform in Karachi.

Ticket prices have not been announced yet. However, affordability is expected to be an important factor in attracting more audiences.
