Kawasaki has unveiled the all-new KX327 and KX327X, as the company returns to the large-displacement two-stroke segment with its biggest two-stroke dirt bikes since the discontinuation of the KX500 in 2004.
The new models are powered by Kawasaki’s first-ever fuel-injected single-cylinder two-stroke engine. According to the manufacturer, the advanced fuel-injection system delivers smooth and predictable power across the rev range while also improving starting performance.
Two-stroke engines remain popular among off-road enthusiasts due to their strong power-to-weight ratio and rapid throttle response. While stricter emissions regulations have led to a decline in their popularity over the years, Kawasaki aims to combine traditional two-stroke performance with modern technology.
A key feature of the new engine is its exhaust valve system, designed to enhance low-end torque and provide smoother acceleration at higher engine speeds. The setup is intended to improve rideability in technical terrain and demanding off-road conditions.
The KX327 comes equipped with a close-ratio five-speed gearbox, while the KX327X features a six-speed transmission with an extra-low first gear for improved versatility on trails and cross-country routes.
In a modern touch rarely seen on two-stroke dirt bikes, both models offer selectable riding modes, allowing riders to switch between two different ECU maps depending on riding conditions and preferences.
The motorcycles are built around an aluminum perimeter frame inspired by Kawasaki’s successful four-stroke motocross machines. Despite their larger engines, the new bikes are approximately six pounds lighter than comparable models. Suspension duties are handled by a 48mm inverted AOS coil-spring fork at the front and a Uni-Trak rear suspension system.
The KX327 and KX327X also feature model-specific equipment. The motocross-focused KX327 uses a 19-inch rear wheel, while the cross-country-oriented KX327X comes with a larger 2.2-gallon fuel tank and a full-length skid plate for added protection.
Although the new models are not the largest two-stroke motorcycles currently available, they rank among the biggest in the category and represent Kawasaki’s most significant two-stroke launch in more than two decades.
Kawasaki said deliveries of the KX327 and KX327X will begin later in 2026. The KX327 is priced at $9,099, while the KX327X will retail for $9,699.
