Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a high-level meeting with senior leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party on Wednesday as part of the government’s routine pre-budget consultations ahead of the Federal Budget for fiscal year 2026–27.
According to the official, the meeting focused on key budgetary and economic priorities, including current expenditures, development spending, and allocations under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
Participants also discussed broader economic objectives such as fiscal sustainability, public welfare initiatives, development projects, and measures aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth in the upcoming fiscal year.
During the consultations, participants unanimously agreed to recommend to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the Federal Budget for FY2026–27 be presented on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, MNA Naveed Qamar, Senator Sherry Rehman, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue Rashid Mahmood Langrial, along with other senior officials from relevant ministries and departments.
The consultations form part of the government’s efforts to build consensus on fiscal policy and development priorities before the presentation of the federal budget, which is expected to outline Pakistan’s economic roadmap for the next financial year.
