Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), Hina Parvez Butt, has criticised singer Falak Shabir after he requested Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz to ban short dresses in public.
In a post on X, she said, “I have no idea when the minds of people like Falak Shabir will stop fixating on women’s clothing.”
“It’s this kind of mindset that’s holding Pakistan back from progressing. For God’s sake, if you all just started minding your own business, it would be a huge service to society”, she added.

Earlier, addressing CM Punjab, Falak said, “As a father of two daughters, I humbly request to Madam CM Maryam Nawaz, please make a law against those who wear short dresses in public places, bazaars, and streets, otherwise we will all be destroyed culturally.”
Following his Instagram story, the singer faced criticism on social media.
Some social media users questioned whether he currently lives in Pakistan, noting that his wife and Falak are frequently seen holidaying in Europe with their daughters. Others criticised him for sharing a photo of the teenagers on his Insta account.
Later, actress Sarah Khan spoke out and defended her husband.
In an Instagram story, she argued that “a healthy society is built on values, dignity, respect, and responsibility. When behaviour that undermines these principles is normalised and celebrated, it affects everyone, not just one group.”
