The senior leader of the anti-state political party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Qasim Suri, has been accused of propagandising against the state after a video he shared on his social media account turned out to be fake.
The claims made in a video widely shared on social media by PTI leader Qasim Suri about the situation in Rawalakot, Azaad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), have been challenged by security sources, who describe the footage as misleading.
The video, which is said to have been recorded in Muzaffarabad, features an unidentified man claiming that hundreds of people have been killed in Rawalakot.
He urges residents to come out onto the streets and calls on overseas Kashmiris to seek international attention to the issue.
Security sources have rejected the claims, saying they are false and intended to create panic.
They also questioned the video’s authenticity, noting that the speaker’s appearance and surroundings do not match conditions in Rawalakot.
The unidentified man further alleges that security forces opened fire and that casualties were widespread. These claims have not been independently verified.
The footage has been shared extensively on social media by PTI-linked accounts and members of the banned Action Committee, according to security officials.
The video also includes remarks interpreted by officials as an attempt to encourage public mobilisation and heighten tensions. Security sources say the circulation of unverified claims risks spreading fear and misinformation.
The authenticity of the video’s allegations remains unverified, as it is a totally misleading and propaganda based video.
