The date for the presentation of the federal budget may be revised for a second time, with a proposal currently under consideration to present the budget on June 12. However, the previously announced schedule to present the budget on June 10 remains in place for now.
According to media reports, the federal budget was initially scheduled to be presented on June 5, but the date was later changed to June 10. The government is now considering postponing it further.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) has also been deferred until tomorrow, June 9th. Preparations are underway to release the Economic Survey of the current fiscal year on Tuesday evening.
Sources said an important meeting between the Prime Minister and the President is also expected to take place, during which reservations raised by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), along with other key political and economic issues, will be discussed.
According to sources, final decisions regarding the budget schedule, the convening of the NEC meeting, and the resolution of concerns raised by coalition partners are expected within the next 24 hours. The government is likely to formally announce the final date for the presentation of the federal budget only after these decisions are made.
Earlier, the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), scheduled to be held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, has been postponed.
According to sources, the NEC comprises all four provincial chief ministers and was expected to approve the national development budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Sources said the meeting was postponed due to the absence of a consensus between the government and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on key matters.
